The Better Method: what is it?
The Better Method (noun) — coached, structured, measured training built for the long run. Not a class. Not a program. A system.
24/7 gyms give you access to equipment but no plan or guidance on how to use it. These gyms are great if you're self-motivated, enjoy programming your own workouts, and don't mind waiting for equipment when someone else is using it.
Group fitness gyms give you access to classes that blend strength and cardio — everything's planned, you get to use all the equipment, but you leave feeling burnt out rather than energised. Many group fitness studios build their whole training philosophy on getting results in 8 weeks or less. Great, until the end of the 8 weeks, when people fall off the bandwagon and struggle to get back into it.
So we built something different. We call it the Better Method. It's the reason every session at Better, Group Coaching or Reformer Pilates, runs the way it does.
Four Principles of the Better Method
Coached. A coach or instructor on the floor with you, every session. So you don't feel out of place, you're performing the exercise with correct form, and you're lifting the right amount of weight for you.
Structured. We don't program random workouts that burn you out or put you at risk of injury. Group Coaching runs in 6-week blocks with a clear purpose. Reformer Pilates runs on set formats — Beginner, Intermediate, Lower & Core, Upper & Core, Flow. Everything has a reason.
Measured. We test your strength every 3 months. We track whether you're maintaining or progressing — both are fantastic. That's training. Showing up without a plan is just exercise.
Built for life. We design our workouts so members can attend 2 or 5 times a week without burning out. Training should give you more energy through the week, not take it away.
One System. Two Modalities.
Here's the not-so-secret sauce that makes the Better Method different. It's not built around one type of training. It's built around two, Group Coaching and Reformer Pilates, working together to get you the best results.
Most gyms make you pick a lane. Weights or Reformer Pilates. Strength or mobility. We don't think that's the right way to build a body that lasts.
Strength without mobility means you can carry the shopping bags, you just can't bend down to pick them up without your back complaining.
Mobility without strength means you can get down to the shopping bags, you just don't have the strength to lift them back up.
The Better Method runs on both, so you can bend over and carry the shopping bags with no issues.
The Bottom Line
You don't need to know what to do. You're coached.
You don't need to guess if it's working. It's measured.
You don't need to pick one modality. The system's built to use both.
That's the Better Method. It's why we called it that.
